Community Service: A Freedom Home Health and Hospice Focus (and Privilege!)

I was a guest on a radio program recently and was asked, "What makes Freedom Home Health and Hospice different?" My answer: Our focus on community service and education.


About a year ago Freedom HH and H had a forward thinking idea...."How could we truly be of help in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities?"  After a lot of discussion it was decided that serving the residents in facilities with a physical activity would not only help residents by also the staff.  An idea was proposed to Parkway Health Center, a skilled nursing facility in Payson, to host Freedom Fun Hour, a weekly "get up and get movin'" activity that even the least active resident could participate in.  The result has been phenomenal!  What started in one facility has now exploded into 15 different facilities throughout Utah County serving more than a hundred long-term residents and adding more each day.

This was a job for more than one person and I would like to introduce you to the three amazing girls that I call my "cheerleaders" but who are actually known as our Community Activity Coordinators!

Each of these women bring so much excitement, enthusiasm and care to our Freedom Fun Hours that residents simply cannot wait for them to get there! They bring music, props and laughter to create a fun filled environment for the residents.

Some of our original Freedom Fun Hour guests were awarded T-Shirts for their continued participation in Freedom Fun Hour and I was able to get some great pictures of them doing what they do best....smiling!!
